Tsunami Drill

Port Renfrew was th efirst Island Community to test their new sunami alarms.
July 19th 2006 at 6pm, the Fire Dept. activated 2 new alarms situated at opposit ends of town. These alarms are triggered either manually or by Langford when there is the threat of a large wave hitting our tiny town.
Next up: Tsunami signage will be placed along highway 14 to warn visitors that they are entering a "Tsunami Zone".

Sumo Wrestling in Port Renfrew


One of the featured activities at this year's event will be the Sumo Suits from Fun-Time Inflatables in Victoria, B.C.
To wrestling with your pals it will take 4 tickets (Tix are sold for the price of: 2 for $2- or 5 for $4-)
You must also be 13 years +

Anyone who knows us here or more specifally, Gill knows that it has been her goal for a long time to get these suits for Port Renfrew Day, so come out and enjoy them!
They are available from 11:30 to 2:30

Annual Polar Bear Swim

The annual New Year's Day polar bear swim is all set to take place once again!
The PRHSSS will provide hot chocolate and the PRVFD will take donations for their "Jaws of Life" fund in exchange for the fun of watching Fire Chief Dan Tennant plunge into the icy Pacific Ocean.
We are also collecting canned and non-perishable goods for the Sooke Transition House Society and you can bring your donations there or to the Rec. Center.
